Sam Davison Preaching at Canaan Baptist Church

Who We Are

The hallmark of Canaan Baptist Church is the preaching of God’s eternal Word. At Canaan Baptist, the preaching is an unapologetic declaration of timeless precepts from the Bible coupled with practical applications for daily life. This type of practical preaching may call for change on the part of the hearer. Therefore, at the end of each service we invite individuals to respond to God by making decisions of change that we’re called for from God’s Word.

Distinctive music is another special aspect of Canaan Baptist Church. After just one service you will realize that our intent is to glorify God to the best of our ability. Our traditional, yet exciting, congregational singing and special music aids each individual’s opportunity to participate in expressing God’s worth to Him.

Finally, we hold to traditional, biblical, Baptist beliefs. In the past, when people stood up for what they believed, they were said to have character. In today’s society, they are tagged as intolerant, old-fashioned, or out-of-touch. We believe the time-tested truths, preached with relevance and compassion at Canaan Baptist, offer that anchor of peace and steadfastness people are seeking.

Our Mission

At Canaan we have adopted a fourfold mission that we refer to as our church’s DNA.

Worship God | We want every member to be a disciple who loves God with his whole being in accordance with the first and greatest commandment. Matt. 22

Love Others | We want every member to love others, the second great commandment. Matt. 22

Serve God  | We want every member to find a place of service and activate their spiritual gifts. Ephesians 4:12

Invite Others | We also want every believer to invite others to know Christ, to witness to them, and to invite them to church where they will hear the gospel. Matt. 28:19-20

Canaan Baptist Church Service

Still Church

With the forceful current of constant change sweeping over every part of our lives, people have the need to connect with something enduring and firm. We believe Christ designed the church to fulfill that need by representing an eternal kingdom and ageless truth with no need to imitate the culture. We want you to know that there’s still a church that feels like a church.

Casual is all the rage in American institutions, but God deserves better. While you won’t find a judgmental spirit here, you will find a place that still believes reverence is right for the presence of God. At Canaan Baptist Church, we are Still Reverent

Our culture’s experiments with the family have left the American home in a mess. We still teach the biblical roles for the family as the best answer and as our only for stable, fulfilled homes. At Canaan Baptist Church, we are Still Family.

Dynamic, passionate preaching straight from the Bible still brings more lasting change than comedy routines, drama, or motivational talks. Come discover the benefit of Bible preaching.

Preaching conjures up a lot of different images in people’s minds these days. Boring. Dry. Irrelevant. May we clarify it a bit? Preaching is simply a passionate and dynamic communication of an important and vital truth from the Bible. The preaching you will hear will first of all be Bible-centered. We still believe in the absolute truth of the time-tested Word of God. Be sure to bring your Bible because you will need it. Second, it will be relevant and clear. You won’t wonder what the point was and you will be able to use it immediately. Last, it will be passionate and unapologetic. In a culture of “believe-whatever-you-want-regardless-of-whether-it-is-actually-true,” preaching might seem offensive to sensitive ears. Rather than water it down and mix it with entertainment, we still believe in that timeless, biblical practice called preaching. At Canaan Baptist Church, we are Still Preaching.

Most church music amounts to dumbing-down the lyrics and cranking up the volume to build interest. The hymns we sing still generate an attitude toward God that is anything but lifeless and boring. At Calvary Baptist Church, we are Still Hymns.

The rumor that masculine men hate church isn’t entirely true. Come discover an environment where plenty of real men still believe God expects them to step up and provide strong, loving leadership in the church and in their families. At Canaan Baptist Church, we are Still Men.

God doesn’t need the Top 40 or the latest fads to be exciting. We still enjoy several timeless practices that stir the soul in a way that strobe lights and dancing in the aisles can never manufacture. At Canaan Baptist Church, we are Still Exciting.
